Alexandrya Eaton
Alexandrya Eaton,
originally from Moncton, has been painting and widely exhibiting
her artwork since receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Mount Allison University in 1991.
Her paintings hang in numerous private and public
collections across Canada, the United States, Europe, Bermuda and
Jamaica.
Over the years,
Alexandrya has been actively involved in the arts community at
large, participating in exhibitions, residencies, events and
fundraisers. She
donates many of her paintings to causes close to her heart and
takes particular pride in her work that now hangs in hospitals and
cancer centres in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec.
Her Artist statement
says: “My painting is an emotional response to colour.
Drawing from imaginative sources and building upon layers
of paint, it is through colour that I am able to define pictorial
space. Through this
process, the study of colour allows me to juxtapose bold vibrant
hues and solid planes to saturate the image, which finally emerges
as a celebration of colour and form. I paint for the immediate
sense of joy it brings to me, and for the hope of joy it brings to
others. I want to
overwhelm the viewer with life and colour.”
Alexandrya lives in Fredericton with her husband
and two daughters.
