Celtic Cadences

August 14th – August 26th

A Tierce de Picardie is a major chord ending of a composition in a minor key. This unexpected chord is very uplifting.  So too is the treat we have in store for you at the exhibit: Celtic Cadences. Several young fiddlers, the True Capers, will join together to play some amazing fiddling music under the competent direction of our very own, Tanya Macrae.  We are very lucky at The Moorings to have two competent fiddlers.  Both Julie our manager and Tanya our sales assistant can really strike up some amazing tunes. This group will play from 1 – 2 pm on Saturday, August 14th. What an uplifting backdrop to enhance the artwork for this exhibit.

Nicole Anderson, Lily Greer, Vicki Maclean, William Rogers, Wendy Shirran  and Anna Syperek will present the visual concert. The exhibit will consist of jewellery, pottery, fibre art, prints and paintings.

William Rogers will do a watercolour demonstration on Saturday, August 14th from 2 – 4 pm and will talk about his technique of painting landscapes en plein air.

On Sunday, August 15th, Nicoloe Anderson will do a jewellery-making demonstration and lecture about her own beautiful style of jewellery.

The exhibit opens at 10:30 am, August 14th.  Artwork can be viewed on The Moorings website: www.mooringsgallery.com at that time.  Please come and join us for tea, lemonade and cookies and to meet some of the artists and to support our Atlantic Canadian artists with a little toe tapping!
