Jessica Berry

Jessica comments on her art:

"The ceramic art I create is intended to serve both a decorative and functional purpose within the home, though most recently I have found myself more concerned with the former than the latter. Decorative objects are essential in the beautifying of personal spaces, and in my work, I strive to create centerpieces capable of holding a strong presence among the mass produced ceramic wares commonly found in contemporary décor.

The order and repetition of pattern is essential to the surfaces of my pieces. I am strongly influenced by historical ornament, such as Asian, Middle Eastern and European ceramics and textiles. I also find inspiration in the textiles and architecture of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and Art Nouveau style.

It is my intent that when my work finds its place in a client or collectors home, it adds to the décor and compliments the owner’s personality and style in a way that brings them the same joy I feel as I create each piece"

Jessica has recently graduated from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia,
