Michelle Yorke
Michelle Yorke’s jewellery is dearly loved by all who purchase
it! Little wonder, she has been making jewellery “forever” and
really enjoys doing so.
Says Michelle:
I first began stringing beads together as a
ten-year old hobbyist, completely unaware that fate would grant me
the joy of making it into a rewarding career. After years of
experimenting with various styles and techniques I discovered the
endless possibilities of combining wire and beads. While developing
my craft I worked in various management positions in retail and in
the communications industry. Before long my jewellery started
circulating among my network of friends (and my friends’ networks
of friends…) and the opportunity to make a career out of my
all-consuming passion was realized…. I’m blessed with a
wonderful life and a career that continues to challenge and inspire
me, allowing my work to endlessly evolve. I love expressing myself
through my jewellery creations and sharing this joy with the
world.
Michelle predominantly uses nickel-free stainless steel
wire. Occasionally she uses brass and copper wire as well. The beads
are made of glass, wood and semi-precious stones. There are no
adhesives or glues used in her work, just wire, which gives her
jewellery an organic quality. She has an amazing ability in
combining colours and her pieces are unique in their design and
colour juxtaposition. Born in the Maritimes and raised
in the Halifax area, Michelle Yorke is a juried member of the Nova
Scotia Designer Crafts Council, a position she has held since
September 2001. |
